

i want to know what the experience has been for others when trying Arq 6, have y'all stuck with it or have you moved back to Arq 5? Just tell us that you're trying to do this or that, most of the people using this Arq are technophiles, we know what's what.Įnough of my rant. What I do find a bit off-putting is the lack of communication.

I'm not here to rag on Stephen or demean his work, developing complex software like this is difficult, especially when it's a one man team. Arq 5 was all of that, sadly Arq 6 isn't (at least not at the moment). I want it to be secure, stable, and efficient. I get it, Arq 6 is pretty but I don't need my backup solution to be pretty. When restoring to the desktop or a chosen location, Arq 6 saves the folder/file being restored in a nested folder with all the other folders above it to the root - why? I don't want to trudge through 4-5 folders before getting to the actual folder being restored. Arq 6 restores files to their original location, desktop, or a chosen location.Arq 6 asks for the encryption key each time you want to restore things but never asks for it when you want to delete an entire backup - wtf?.What it wrote, I have no idea as there is no documentation on how it works. my latest backup was 5.057GB, Arq 6 wrote 21GB to my disk. Arq 6 writes almost 4x the size of the backup to the SSD, ex.Arq 6 takes anywhere from 18-46 minutes to do the same thing. My total daily backup is about 70GB on this machine, generally about 5-8GB is changed/backed up daily.

I found my self with some time due to Covid-19 and figured I'd test it out to see if it's as good as Arq 5 was, and as good as some of the posts on here talking about its speed.
